Effective January 1, 2024, the federal Supplemental Security Income payment amount will increase by 3.2 percent. The amounts paid to individuals and couples are below:

Impact on Medicaid
This increase in the individual SSI rate will have the effect of increasing Medicaid’s income cap from $2,742 to $2,829 beginning January 1, 2024. Although we have not seen an official announcement, the maximum Community Spouse income allowance (used in Georgia) should increase by 3.2% in 2024 to $3,834 and the maximum Community Spouse Resource Allowance should increase in 2024 to $153,375. For those in less generous States, the minimum Community Spouse income allowance should increase to $2,543 and the minimum Community Spouse Resource Allowance should increase to $30,675. Our figures are estimates pending the official announcement. For 2023, the official announcement was made on November 18, 2022 so the official announcement should come anytime.
